How I manage adds and links
Its important nowadays to be clear about this. I do include, at times, links to things I like, or have bought. Sometimes that is with Amazon as I use them a lot and so had an affiliate account. I don’t at the moment but will update this if I resurrect it. I am not blogging as a job. I have one of them. It takes up a lot of my life and I like it. Because I like blogging too, I spend time doing this.
There are other links I put in just to direct people to other sites because of their content and if they are places I have been (e.g. restaurants in Edinburgh). I am not paid or in partnership with them for these links. I also use photos / images from sites where you can download and use them (e.g. http://www.pexels.com, Unsplash.com) and I create my own pins and add pins on my Pinterest account of the same name.
I do have WordPress adds on my site. You don’t have to click on them but if you do please note that I may receive money. If I ever make any money on this I would be likely to use it to cover the annual cost of my domain. Based on my current total though this may take me a good 10 years!! If I ever make more than this yearly fee I will update this page.
First of all thanks to www.new-lune.com for her blog on this and really helpful template!
It is http://www.my-forty-something-life.com responsibility to respect your privacy regarding any information I may collect while operating this website (blog). This is in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The type of data that I collect via my WordPress site and process may include your name, username, email address, IP address, and URL. I use data to run the site efficiently and personalise user experience.
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site don’t currently but may include in future embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
How long is your data retained
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators (only me) can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data?
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. If this happens I will get help from WordPress to do it. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where is your data sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. I usually delete the spam. The domain names are sometimes quite telling!
Who I share your data with
I do not share any personal information with third parties for marketing purposes or in any instance with exception of being required to do so by law. I also use plug ins which process some of your data.
How I protect your data
I am committed to ensure that any information you disclose on this website is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable measures and procedures to safeguard and secure the information that we collect. This website is also secured by SSL.

If there is a breach I will assess the risk to your personal data and report any significant risks to the correct authorities within 72 hours if the breach is severe and notify any individuals effected if necessary.
I process personal data under the following lawful basis.
